Sparky Grows up

Spring 2003: Sparky is now 2 1/2, and Ruby is 3 years old. They've come a long way, and each had a "first ride" (consisting of sitting on them for about 30 seconds) last November, and are now ready for learning how to actually ride.

Sparky has a problem - ME! I don't know how to ride very well, but, like everything else we've done so far, I guess we'll just have to learn together.

In June, Sparky & Ruby went to Sacramento Horse Expo, as part of the BLM's Breed Showcase

Shyla Pheasant rode Sparky in the English Youth classes, and got a 2nd place (out of a HUGE class!)

This was Expo's first year for cow classes. Saanen Kerson, Jennifer Stovall, and Martha Conlin put together an impromptu team for the Sorting. Martha rode Sparky.

Sparky is just the best horse! I go trail riding with him and enjoy just riding around the ranch. We also go to various low-key activities and competitions like the Napa Valley Horsemen's Timed Events Series and the CADAMA Playday.
